Uber tries to reposition itself as the app of apps
San Francisco, California – Uber still does not know when to make profits, but is committed to restoring its position as a “wonderful” company in Silicon Valley.
Uber is being attacked by all sides – from investors who complain of her lack of profitability, California organizers who want to assume workers’ responsibilities, or advocates of environmental protection who attack individual cars – Uber tries to restore itself as a solution company to urban transport problems.
“We want to be your daily operating system – wherever you want, at any time, and by any means of transportation,” said CEO Dara Khusushhi today during a major American and international press event. The idea is to be a kind of comprehensive store for horse riding, delivery, hiring bicycles, silence, and public transport information.
A mixture of Uber, Rappi, Yellow Maps, and Google Maps – in one app. The Uber Eats app, which works as a separate application, is combined with the passenger application.
The company has also entered into a partnership with Israeli Moovit to provide public transport information, including prices and timetables so that the customer can determine the best way to wrap – even if not before Uber. Sao Paulo is listed in the list of the first cities that receive the new version of the application – which is supposed to happen in the coming weeks.
In Denver, the company merged the payment for public transport into its system – and hopes to form similar partnerships in other cities. “These partnerships are complicated, but this is not the reason we did not work to achieve them,” says Keith Hinsley, City City Corps Director at Uber Transit.
By integrating public transport information, Uber wants to recognize it as a company that helps reduce traffic and improve life in cities. “We want to reduce the ownership of private cars.” The company also announced a loyalty program for users and drivers and a monthly subscription. Subscription is only available in the United States at the present time.
For $ 29.90, you can get unlimited delivery from Uber Eats, a discount on the food order bill, and lock the price at a dynamic rate. On the other hand, Uber is also working to expand the presence of Jump, a bicycle company and an electric scooter from San Francisco, which was acquired last year: The service was just launched in Paris and Mexico.
Brazil is in the plans, but no date has yet been set. It is not yet clear whether Jump will be a real diversification of business or just a specialized product in some cities. In response to unstable employment criticism, the company launched a tool that allows drivers to estimate the amount they will earn, taking into account specific hours and areas.
It provides advantages through the loyalty program, such as discounts at fuel stations and scholarships. Drivers will also be able to choose a discount card or electronic portfolio and will be able to reach the actual time ride values.
The discount card was recently launched in Mexico and is supposed to come to Brazil. One day after The Washington Post filed a complaint stating that it would have been acting to hide information related to crimes committed by drivers (to avoid holding legal responsibility), the company also announced a series of features to improve travel safety.
Improvements include an auditor and integration symbol with the 911 emergency service in the United States. Through the Uber application, users can send a text message to 911, share their site and report an emergency.
